The lobby basement once a speakeasy during prohibition days was known to have housed such talents as Louise Armstrong. In fact, one of the original murals of that day has been preserved and is open for public viewing upon request. The stained glass lobby doors open to display an expanse of rich solid oak mission-style furniture, reflecting the day of the original construction in 1896.
